5 Things You Will Regret as a Mom if You Don’t Start Doing Them Right Now

Being a mother to a child and especially more than one, can be a tough gig. Its often times easy to fall into a routine and get lost in the day without having spent quality time for yourself, your spouse and your children. We have all been guilty of getting lost in the hustle and bustle so today, I am sharing 5 things that will help you enjoy your beautiful family and make memories for the moments that seem to pass us by in a blink of an eye.

Take pictures…. All the time
Kids grow up fast! Way too fast! The smaller they are, the more changes they will make in a given timespan. Whether it’s a camera or a simple smart phone, take more pictures than you think you need. You will be glad you did so when you look back at them in 6 months.

Start saying “Yes” More to your Children
I’m not saying let them have cake all day but sometimes, as moms, we find ourselves saying “No” to our children because of a hardship that it will create on our part such as a big cleanup. If your children, want to borrow your bedsheets to make a tent in their room, is it really so bad? Children are only so little for so long, as long as they aren’t hurting anyone, try saying “Yes” more.

Play WITH Them
Believe it or not, your kids adore you. Nothing will make them happier than building a huge Lego house together or reenacting their favorite princess movie. If that means letting go of the kitchen for the day, isn’t it worth the time? Remember, it is these types of memories they remember most as they grow older and even more so when they become parents themselves.

Let Them Help You
Our children are often times A LOT smarter than we think they are. Though it may take some extra work on your part in the beginning, they are capable of learning to do things you may not have thought possible. In addition, the sense of accomplishment your child will feel after having mastered something while helping their much older parents can really boost their self-esteem. Let your children help you in your tasks from making lunch to special projects such as painting & knitting. Who knows, you may just introduce them to a hobby they will continue doing their whole lives and perhaps with their children one day.

Cut Down the Screen time
Children need real-world social interactions for healthy development. Limit the screen time and teach them how to play in their rooms or outside for an appropriate length of time. Trust me, they will not die because they are bored. Even more, they say boredom fosters creativity. In time, your children will learn how to entertain themselves and won’t feel the need to be stimulated all of the time. Lastly, you don’t want your children’s favorite memories to mostly include their favorite TV shows and apps do you?
Do you have any more tips on how to create memories with your children? If so, comment below! We would love to hear your thoughts!
